Bit of a nuisance, have fractured my right elbow - running alongside my 4 yr old grandson on a cycle path while he was riding his 2 wheeler and watching another novice coming in the opp direction didn't see him turn his wheel into me and I went flying over his front wheel luckily didn't do a face plant, but my right arm took the brunt of the fall, hence the fracture as  have since found out this afternoon.  Not a good week really as i broke a front tooth on Tuesday, that was replaced with a very good makebelieve one - wonderful the dentists today they can create a new tooth from any old filling gunk and make you look wonderful. Still the first time in 65 years have broken any bones - not a bad average.

When will this relentless rain ever end???  It has been going on for more than a week now stopping and starting again, but this weekend, being a long weekend it has rained non-stop.  Pretty unusual for the Tweed area.  It is so cold too - I know it is winter but normally it is warm and sunny.  Everyone has colds and coughs and it is a job trying to dodge them all.  Succeeded so far.

What an amazing concert for the Diamond Jubilee, was fantastic, and Buck Pal will never have seen so many people packed in and never again, I should imagine.  It was a stroke of genius using it as a backdrop for all the visuals and how clever.  The Sirs are still able to rock the crowds - Cliff, Elton, Tom Paul ( a few facelifts as well ) but it was just fantastic and with Madness singing from the roof of Buck Pal.  The queen looked so beatiful in her gold outfit and so serene - she is truly an inspriation to everyone =- whether you are a Royalist or not.  You cannot get away from that fact - and she is still doing a fulltime job at 86.......

After a horrid on off week with the rain and continual rain all weekend, today dawned with blue sky, sun, Fingal head was looking beautiful this afternoon, the tide was out and the sea a turquoise blue with the white wave tops, incredible - even though it is officially winter it was shorts and t/shirt weather - this is more like it.

What an incredible specatacle yesterday on the river Thames for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee - i sat up to 2am our time absolutely mesmerised - fantastic.

How time flies, halfway through the year and so much going on. A wonderful time in Te Anau in April,  autumn and the trees around Lake Te Anau were a picture, we had the most wonderful weather as well, such a beautiful part of NZ and so wonderful to see Barry and Judy again after 5 years.  The friendship just gets stronger. Back to reality and now getting 'itchy feet' or 'scratchy toes', getting to our 'stay in one place limit,' so have just bought a caravan off some people where we live.  It has everything with it and all one needs is food, toothbrushes and charged up battery and then go.  We are dying to try it out but it has rained every day since we bought it - however, a lot of sickness where we live renders a strong mortality check so we are going in July together with the dogs for  a month, first of all. Shouldn't grumble there are so many people worse off and life can spring some surprises when you least expect them.......  If it wasn't for the family I am not sure we would be staying here even though it is a beautiful part of Australia -really need to  do something more challenging.

It has rained, rained, rained for the week on and off - enough now.  People thaink that Australia is perpetually dry and sunny - well it is not.

Our grandson Nate, aged 4 has just joined a soccer team and he is so pround of his boots, shinpads, his long white socks that come up to his knees and his shorts that come down and cover his knees.  After a couple of games he will be telling his grandfather how to play, must say he has a very strong kick on him and pretty accurate as well.  Another couple of weeks and we will go and watch him.
